Who We Are
The Grace Filipino Methodist Church consists of Filipino Methodists coming to Canada in the late 90s throughout the 2000s in waves of economic diaspora.
As is common to Filipino migrants, there was a longing for us to look for a church that fosters common cultural values and traditions we all grew up in - the United Methodist Church.
GFMC is an independent church with strong roots, values, tradition, and heritage from the United Methodist Church in the Philippines.
Its established polity as an independent church was intended to reflect the Filipinos' way of life in the present reality and landscape of the Canadian society.
Mission
The core mission of Grace Filipino Methodist Church, according to the Bible, is to proclaim, preserve, and display the gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, and living out its message, thereby making disciples and fulfilling the Great Commission.
Proclaim the Gospel:
Jesus charged the apostles with proclaiming the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:18-20), and the church is established to carry out that task. Preaching the gospel is central to the church's mission (2 Timothy 2:15, 4:2).
Preserve the Gospel:
The church is called to preserve the true gospel throughout the ages by faithfully preaching it, refuting false teachings, and maintaining doctrinal and moral purity.
Live the Gospel:
The church is called to be a vivid, living color display of the gospel it preaches through the holy lives of its members and its unity-in-diversity.
Make Disciples:
The church's mission also involves making disciples of Jesus Christ through teaching and baptizing those who believe.
Serve:
The church is called to serve others, both within and outside of its community, as an expression of the gospel message.
Every Christian's Role:
Every baptized person is called to witness and announce the Gospel to all people.
